Bruce Barker
Bruce was formerly a partner at the nationally recognized law firms of Gray Cary Ware & Freidenrich and Pennie & Edmonds. At these firms, he represented clients in high stakes patent disputes such as the much publicized litigation between Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com over Amazon's "one-click" patent. He now draws from this litigation experience when counseling clients on a wide range of intellectual property concerns, such as how to avoid patents, respond to threats of patent infringement, build valuable patent portfolios, and license technology, all with an eye toward the risks of subsequent patent litigation.
Although Bruce's clients span a wide range of technical fields, Bruce specializes in electrical engineering, computer science, and physics, where his prior experiences as an engineer with RCA Corp and Apollo Computer Corp give him unique insight into the problems faced by his clients. Bruce spent three years with these companies honing his skills as an engineer by writing computer programs and designing digital circuits for microprocessor based systems. He now combines this technical expertise with his deep litigation experience to solve complex issues at the interface of law and technology.
