Frederick Hadidi
As a founding member of Chao Hadidi Stark & Barker LLP, Fred Hadidi provides strategic advice to established and early-stage companies. Before founding the firm, he worked as a solo practitioner and at the Silicon Valley offices of Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP, Pennie & Edmonds LLP, and Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe LLP.
During more than 15 years of private practice, Fred has litigated cases at both the trial court and appellate levels, conducted pre-litigation patent investigations, drafted patent opinions, negotiated license and technology transfer agreements, performed diligence for mergers and acquisitions, prosecuted patents and provided general intellectual property advice for clients in the semiconductor, nanotechnology, energy, telecommunications, wireless, optoelectronics, networking, software, computer security, medical, speech recognition and financial services industries.
Representative Experience- Advised clients about the scope and validity of patents, including the performance of product clearance studies and the preparation of formal opinions.
- Litigated patent infringement cases at both the trial court and appellate levels.
- Acted as pro bono appellate counsel in an asylum petition before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
- Performed pre-filing investigations for clients wishing to litigate patents.
- Analyzed competitors' patent portfolios to prepare for licensing negotiations and patent assertions.
- Represented clients in licensing, joint development and technology transfer negotiations.
- Performed diligence for clients interested in acquiring companies and in purchasing or selling intellectual property assets.
- Assisted clients with the strategic development of patent portfolios.
